| For information and enrolments: aupair@ihteamlingue.it  The need for understanding, tolerance and acceptance of differences in culture is very important. The literal meaning of AU PAIR is “equal”. Registering on an AU PAIR programme means living with a family and working 30-45 hours a week in return for board and lodging and a weekly wage. The work is typically helping with housework and childcare. The AU PAIR experience leads to a significant improvement in foreign language ability but also means living in a culturally different environment. Reliability, adaptability and flexibility are necessary to ensure a profitable and enjoyable experience. Destinations in EUROPE: Ireland, England, Spain, France, Germany SOME INFORMATION: Periods: the most suitable departure times are September or January for stays of 9/12 months. Other times for 3/6 months are possible, however bearing in mind that there are fewer families available particularly during Summer. Requirements: - female aged from 18 to 26 (having already had 18th birthday) - experienced with children (not just own relatives) or with the elderly - at least a pre intermediate knowledge of the language of the host country; Rights: - to receive a weekly wage of around € 80/100 - to have 2 days free or 1 day + 2 half days (or alternatively Saturday if the family works during the week) - to be able to attend a part-time language course - to have 2/3 hours free per day for study; Obligations: - From 30-35 hours work weekly including 2 or 3 evenings of housework - childcare or looking after the elderly (Precise working conditions will be, however, communicated by the host family before departure. If accepted, the family will contact the girl by phone to decide whether to go ahead or not) - to keep own bedroom clean and tidy N.B.: In some locations (see London and surroundings) there are other solutions available: AU PAIR PLUS (greater availability in the evening in return for a higher wage) or MOTHER'S HELP (8 hours of work per day in return for even higher wages). Destinations in USA: all over the States SOME INFORMATION: The Program: the USAuPair program was founded to support au pair cultural exchange and its purpose is to increase understanding between Americans and people from other countries. Approved and controlled by the U.S. Government, allows au pairs to be legally placed in the Unites States for 1 year on a J-1 visitor visa. Periods: the most suitable departure times are September or January only for stays of 12 months and to do so applications must be received at least 2 months before. However, the programme can start at any other time depending on availability of families. Pls note that return to own home country during the programme is not allowed. Requirements: - open to females or males aged from 18 to 26 (having already had 18th birthday) - single (not divorced or with children) - experienced with childcare (not own relatives for at least 200 hours) - a good knowledge of the English language (evalutation tests required) - good health - Penal Certificate - International Driving Licence - High School Certificate. Rights: - to receive a weekly wage of around $ 175 - have a single private, furnished room - have 1 + half day free each week - have 2 weeks holiday during the 12 months to be spent in USA - have a 3 days induction course in S.Francisco - follow University courses on American Culture partly sponsorised by the family - follow cultural events organised by USAuPair - On going flight to USA and also return flight, is programme completed. Obligations: - Up to 42 hours work weekly (or 10 daily) of childcare. Capacity and availability to drive (Precise working conditions will be, however, communicated by the host family before departure. If accepted, the family will contact the girl by phone to decide whether to go ahead or not). N.B.: Programme can be extended (with some regulations) up to extra 12 months. Ask for more details and documentation relating to the application. COST in both cases: € 180, not refundable, at application + € 200 when family is confirmed. |
